There's a series of books by Sophie Littlefield called "A Bad Day for ..." (Sorry, Pretty, Scandal, Mercy, Romance).

They are (mostly) cozy mysteries:
. Small town setting: check
. Single woman protagonist: check
. Sewing shop with quirky employees/regulars: check
. Handsome new sheriff: check

Then there's
. Puts on her vigilante boots and stomps all over abusive boyfriends/husbands in the small town while solving mysteries and avoiding suspicion by new sheriff: check.
