What happens now...

Well, it happened. The Republican party no longer has the right to call itself the party of freedom, as it is the only party in this country that is taking freedoms away, and the liberals who underestimated the enemy and said they would never overturn Roe because they fundraise off it have been proven wrong.

Here’s what’s going to happen now. Some states are going to keep abortion legal so that women will have freedom and autonomy over their own bodies. Let’s call these the “free states.” Other states will ban it, making women virtual slaves to the government. Let’s call these the “slave states.” If you think America is divided now, wait until you see what happens next. What self-respecting woman would want to live in a slave state that doesn’t respect her decisions over her own body? What woman would want to move to a slave state that forces her to give birth, which may damage her body in the long term or even kill her. In the long run, women will move out of these states and not move in, which will only further the cultural divisions between the states as the years go by. Slave states will not change their policies as the voters who oppose them will leave, strengthening the votes of the free states.

What happens then? I don’t know, but remember this decision took fifty years. They played the long game and they got what they wanted. If we want freedom restored, we’ll have to be just as patient and vigilant. It may take another fifty years, but with enough work, freedom will be restored.
