Yunxiang Gao and producer Jing Wang allegedly sexually assaulted the woman in the early hours of 27 March 2018, in a luxury hotel room in Sydney. A jury at New South Wales District Court heard the woman entered the hotel room with Mr Wang after a party. She had expected other people to be present in the hotel room. The complainant said Mr Gao arrived shortly afterwards and the two men forcibly began removing her clothing, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

The unnamed woman told the court that she initially felt comforted when Mr Gao walked in. “I felt a bit safer because he’s always very polite and is a public figure and he got married, he has a daughter and is someone I can trust,” she told the court on Wednesday. The woman said she told the police about the alleged indecent assault but not the rape because she was brought up in China. She said in China “women don’t report this kind of thing to police, and because our famous people.....the wealthy, they will always have a way to get away from punishment, get away from [the] law.” “I didn’t know what to do I didn’t want ot hurt my family, I didn’t want to hurt my parents,” she said. The trial continues.
