As a straight ally, I apologize from the bottom of my heart for the actions of hateful people like these and what they put LGBTQ+ people through every day. I can't even imagine what it feels like to be the target of this garbage. It makes me sad, sick, and angry, and it makes me realize that I need to be a much better ally.
I hereby pledge my unstinting support to the LGBTQ+ community. I am on your side, and I promise to do what I can to help, starting with working harder to educate people who post stupid stuff here at DU.
