Some of the antique shops look like Third Reich museums.

I met a few of their descendants. They were quite proud of their Nazi Opas - and of course, they were rabid Republicans.

As far as Argentines, they're mostly Italian and Spanish - with other immigrant backgrounds (including German, yes - but mostly the 19th century arrivals), as well as Indigenous.

There is a lot of racism in Argentina against people with visible (tawny) Indigenous heritage - like center-left former President Cristina Kirchner (her husband Néstor - the FDR of Argentina - was of Swiss German heritage).

How the right-wing racists hate the woman! "All those 'blacks' (i.e. Indians) are resentful thieves, don'tchaknow!"

That's how the typical Milei voter talks (but in Italian-accented Spanish).
