7. The dogs are chained.

I don't see how the dog could have "trotted back" to the owner after the encounter because the dog is chained in place.

Had the bear(s) been hungry, the dog(s) would have been powerless as retreat was impossible for them. Sorry, I don't find the encounter cute or endearing. It was pure happenstance that the dogs weren't butchered and eaten on the spot. Irresponsible owner needs to provide better protection if s/he is going to leave them vulnerable to predators like that.
