a japanese owned passenger railcar manufacturer just opened a new plant in northern il. the cars will be made in the usa with as many us components as possible.

will need a new generation of of locomotive power.

will need new trackage and electronic components.

will create thousands of construction and other related jobs.

eisenhower built the interstate highway system and that was over 60 years ago .at the rate we are going the new generation of rail transportation would be completed,if at all,in 20 yrs. that`s 80 yrs that we have`t committed to building our transportation system. of course add in the length of time it would take to rebuild our highways and bridges and let`s not forget our ports....i`m figuring 20-30 yrs before our nation can have what will be needed to remain competitive in the modern world. do we have 20-30 yrs? no we do`t.
