you cannot contribute to an HSA and be on Medicare, and when you first file for Medicare they can backdate up to 6 months (depending on your birthday) so if, for example, you are laid off from your job and are eligible for Medicare, you may have to pay back the taxes on some of the HSA contributions......such BS, argh
