As a former teamster I remember a practice that school bus transportation companies used to pull. The drivers had to arrive, go out to their frozen buses in pitch darkness, start and warm up the buses, de-Ice windows, sweep snow off the bus and the pay clock didn't start till the bus actually was out in drive and started rolling
