9. Making your parents happy

I was lucky, I guess, because my parents wouldn't be caught dead at any fast food joint while they were alive. Making them happy would be more like a Thai or Mexican restaurant, usually not a chain. It was a nasty, job, but someone had to do it.


It's strange to think about, but I don't have any memory of my parents EVER going to a fast food restaurant, except when my Dad took me to Burger King for a milkshake on the way home from the orthodontist because my teeth hurt too much to eat real food. We didn't eat out much as kids, and then it was something at the Army base for a special occasion. That's where I got my taste for venison, I guess.
