1. No one should be forced to pay dues to an organization with which they disagree...

Been there, done that. I drove a truck in most of my 20s. It was a rare union shop that supported R's. I had no choice. I was not much-loved much by my peers, even though I was pretty low-key about my politics. This was the early 80's, so they were pretty old-school in their approach to things. Our steward once told me I needed a plunger handle stuck 8 inches up my....well you can imagine. It soured me a slight bit on unions. I'm sure some have done good.
