4. So much for federalism.

The Repubs trumpet their support for "states rights" but want a federal law that would superseded state gun laws. I appreciate that "slippery slope" is a logical fallacy but if there is to be a federal law to authorize a group of people to carry weapons contrary to state law, why not a federal law that simply trumps all state gun laws for everyone?
