If Wellstone had not died, Would he have won a third term in 2002. The Coleman-Mondale race was close.
Coleman won by a 2.2 percent margin.
Wellstone would have won a third term in 2008.
In 2014, Wellstone would face a very tough re-election campaign. 2014 was a bad year for Democrats. Democrats lost 9 US Senate seats. MN is a swing state.
