The Tories will attract those who want an easy route to getting elected (such as their candidate where I live, who is quite open about this)

They will also draw in those candidates who want an environment where they can be held to lower standards for bad behaviour. Combined with Johnson's recent purge of the moderates this is going to be very bad indeed. We desperately need better politicians and as a country we are failing on this point
