Lots of blame on Trump for Mastriano, but the truth is Mastriano was leading the all the polls from the beginning. Trump only endorsed him late in the primary after he saw that Mastriano was already ahead and likely going to win the primary. He endorsed Oz somewhat earlier, but Oz also had a consistent, if slim, lead in all the polls. The truth is R primary voters very likely were going to pick these two even without Trump's endorsement. McCormick also ran a bad campaign at the end. Had he stuck with those early campaign ads highlighting his PA roots, which were cleaver and funny. He could also have highlighted his competency in government and his more moderate social views. Instead he tried to out-Trump Oz.

The PA Republicans apparently aren't willing to face the reality that their positions are unpopular with most people. They'd rather blame Trump.
