U.S. agriculture secretary unmasked [View all]
Sonny Purdue, the U.S. agriculture secretary, traveled central Pennsylvania alongside U.S. Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) on Friday to tout Perry and the Trump administrations coronavirus response. Purdue announced the Department of Agriculture would be extending a program to allow free meals to K-12 schoolchildren through June 30 (2021), the result of coronavirus legislation that passed Congress and was signed by President Donald Trump.
Perry, a Republican, faces a close reelection campaign against state Auditor General Eugene DePasquale. The two most recently released public opinion polls showed DePasquale leading Perry.
Both Perry and Purdue addressed an audience of about 20 people at Northeastern Middle School in East Manchester Township without wearing their masks. When asked about that choice, of not wearing masks during a press Q&A in close quarters, Purdue said that he would wear it if the PennLive reporter felt uncomfortable ...
A Purdue aide ended the Q&A session after the question.
