'Yikes!' See the big bobcat near town that drew mixed reactions [View all]

The reactions ranged from “beautiful” to “scary!” to “awesome” and “Yikes!!!!!”

Big wild cats, reclusive and typically moving under the cover of the low light of dawn and dusk, are head-turners when they show up in broad daylight.

The reactions are those of many who saw a trail camera photo Allyson Fuller of Inola posted on her Facebook page after the motion-activated device on the family’s small acreage captured three frames showing a good-sized bobcat and a nearby neighborhood clearly in the background about 9:30 on a late January morning.

Typically the camera catches images of deer and racoons. “Last night there were six deer and two big raccoons,” she said. She’s heard rumors of other animals around that she would like to see on the camera, however. Black bears have been seen in northeast Oklahoma. “My husband swears he saw a mountain lion once,” she said.
