Not 'news' link but from the NC voter guide.

Look at Section 4 - "What is the Deadline to Register to Vote?" - 2nd paragraph in that section reads: "If you miss the voter registration deadline, you can still register to vote and cast a ballot during the early voting period, using what's called same-day registration."
