The lawyer for Stephanie Lopez, former President of the Albuquerque Police Officers Association, is asking that all charges against Lopez be dropped because the D.A. hasn’t indicted Lopez within the time required by state law.
Stephanie Lopez was arrested in early December 2015 on charges of child abuse, bribery, retaliation and intimidation of a witness.
Her 14-year-old daughter told a school resource officer her mother repeatedly hit her in the head, (and) pulled her hair before throwing her to the floor.
This seems to be a common trend with the D.A. in charges against police officers.
“Golly gee, it fell through the cracks. We might revisit it at a later date. We didn't get all the info. Blah Blah”
Meanwhile there's a 14-year-old child who was beat down by her mother, with no consequences for that mother.
Without an indictment, Lopez gets to keep her job as an Albuquerque police officer.
