NJ residents respond to Identity Evropa white supremacist propaganda appearing in their towns

BERNARDS - Residents who've seen white supremacist propaganda pop up in their towns aren't having it.

Nearly 50 individuals gathered at a Basking Ridge church Wednesday evening to discuss and educate themselves on how to combat incidences of hate in their respective neighborhoods.

Identity Evropa, a white supremacist group, has been spreading its message the last few weeks, specifically targeting Somerville, Bridgewater, Morristown, Bedminster, the Basking Ridge section of Bernards and Bernardsville, with hateful anti-Semitic and racist fliers, said Melanie Robbins, Director of Community Engagement, Anti Defamation League (ADL) New York / New Jersey.

"The reports have been over the past week and are a combination of two pieces,” Robbins said. “One of the tactics of Identity Evropa, the group behind these fliers is to socialize themselves where they claim to be and impact. Some of the information we saw through their social media account. And we have spoken with individuals who saw the fliers themselves and either personally removed them or a close friend saw the flier and then they reported to ADL. We are publicizing that data and tracking that information."
