But why is it waiting til now to do it? Why couldn't it have been done sooner?

Maybe I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth; maybe I shouldn't be suspicious of its motives or the timing--but I just can't help but think that either there is an ulterior motive, or that the opportunity to help has long been there and they ignored it until there was something to be gained from it..... .
