Congresswoman Ilhan Omar files for divorce during 'intensely personal' and 'difficult' time [View all]
Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has filed for divorce from her husband.
Omar, one of the first two Muslim women in Congress, filed her paperwork Friday in Minneapolis family court, records confirm.
The freshman Democrat, 37, and husband Ahmed Hirsi, 39, share three children.
“As with all marriages, this is intensely personal and a difficult time for their family,” her lawyer Jaime Driggs said in a statement to the Daily News.
