Maryland homeowner uses smoke to battle snakes, burns down house

2. I don't know about alcohol...

As someone who battles sugar ants and "beer" flies (large and small gnats) on a constant basis, constant fighting against pests can drive a person to try some pretty drastic stuff. I finally broke down this summer and tried some OTC stuff that wasn't suppose to harm kids and cats. I don't have kids, but I have 10 cats (and they're like my kids). I was terrified to use it, but I HATE those damn gnats!!! I've got sticky strips and change those out constantly as they get full. I can't find where they're nested or sequestered, and if they're in my sink drain, it seems like the crap I've poured down there would have wiped them out by now.

That's why I kind of empathize with this guy. He may have truly thought the smoke was all this method would have produced. The fire may have surprised him as much as anybody else. It was a hard lesson, to be sure. But if was driven as batty by the snakes as I am by these gnats, I complete empathize with the poor man.
