Barbers, salons may open to service essential employees [View all]
Barbershops and salons, ordered to remain closed last month as part of the efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus by order of Gov. Larry Hogan, have been given permission on Tuesday to re-open - with restrictions.
Hogan said in a statement on Monday that barbers and salons may provide services for employees of businesses and organizations that are considered "essential services" and have been allowed to continue operating while the state has been under a shutdown order.
Hogan's Office of Legal Counsel released a statement that it "recommends that enforcement action not be taken" against barbers and salons serving employees of essential businesses.
Those who qualify and wish to visit a barber or salon must make appointments in advance. No walk-in's are allowed.
