Grassley: border wall will be built--litigation aside
(Washington) -- Iowa Senator Charles Grassley says individual states' efforts to block President Trump's national emergency won't stop construction of a wall across the U.S. southern border.
California and 15 other states filed suit to block the president's plans for additional barriers immediately after the national emergency was issued last Friday. In an interview with KMA News as part of his weekly public affairs program, Grassley says wall construction will proceed--but not with everything Trump wanted.

"It might stop it from being completed with everything the president plans to build in the way of a wall, or barriers, or border security, or whatever you want to call it," said Grassley. "It's all of the above. Because, we've already got the okay for 55 miles that probably can't be completed before the end of this fiscal year, anyway."
Grassley says the president may only receive half of the $8 billion requested as part of the emergency declaration.
