Iowa Senator Pistols and Pig Nuts has a plan save the republic!!!! [View all]

Or Not.

(Washington, D.C.) -- A bill limiting the amount of money former presidents receive from the federal government has moved out of committee.

The Presidential Allowance Modernization Act of 2017 -- which was introduced by Iowa Senator Joni Ernst -- passed through the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs unanimously Wednesday and now heads to the full Senate for consideration. In a previous interview with KMA News, Ernst said the bill would limit the amount of perks former presidents receive on the taxpayer dime.

"Our former presidents are given not only their pension for serving as former presidents," said Ernst, "but they also receive, basically, an unlimited, uncapped amount of federal taxpayer dollars to be used toward their lifestyle, their leasing of office spaces, their phone bill, salaries for personnel. Like I said, it's unlimited."
