Rauner again calls Pritzker, Madigan corrupt [View all]
With political ads on the air for more than a year, the Illinois State Fair may no longer be the traditional kickoff to campaign season. But still, Gov. Bruce Rauner kicked into high gear at the fairgrounds Sunday, calling out what he labeled as corruption and self-dealing by House Speaker Michael Madigan and Democratic gubernatorial nominee J.B. Pritzker.
The governor, speaking with The State Journal-Register after an event honoring veterans, said the November election is for all the marbles, saying his opponent, Pritzker, is totally aligned under Madigan, while he and statewide Republican candidates stand for lower taxes, jobs and term limits.
The message is not new. Rauners re-election campaign has been running ads labeling Madigan as the most corrupt career politician in America, with Pritzker as his potential wingman.
Though, for the record, neither Democrat has ever been charged with a crime or credibly accused of participating in illegal activities.
