6. Hawaii's been having a drought since 2009 onwards.

It's kinda seasonal, but 2009-2010 was really bad. Water issues in Hawaii are a very interesting subject and has been especially poignant on Maui (although it's an issue on all islands) native Hawaiian farmers vs. Big Sugar/Pineapple and the resorts:
