BUNNELL, Fla. —
A 17-year-old special needs student from Matanzas High School in Flagler County has been accused of violently attacking a teacher's aide, leaving her unconscious. The incident occurred after the paraprofessional took away the student's Nintendo game.
The school district has decided not to share any information about the teacher’s aide's current condition due to privacy concerns. However, there is surveillance footage of the incident, which Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly watched.
"Quite frankly, it was shocking," he said.
According to investigators, the student chased the teacher's aide into the hallway after she took his video game away. The report states he pushed her with such force that she was knocked five to six feet into the air, causing her to lose consciousness.
"This could have been a homicide," Staly said. "When you push people down like that, they hit their head, you never know the outcome."
