Look at how Israel is portrayed by people on the left, and how Jews in this country have been persecuted by people on college campus because of guilt by association.
I hate to break it to you, but this country hasn't really been welcoming for Jews either.
Let's look at who hates Jews in this country:
1: Pro Hamas protestors
2: "The Jews won't replace us" crowd
3: Black Hebrew Israelites
4: White Nationalists
5: Skinhead groups
6: ANSWER folks
7: Christians who view Israel as the first sign of the rapture
We have a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG history of hating Jews here. Just look up the SS St. Louis and the Rosenbergs to start (who were accused of giving nuclear secrets to the Soviets that could have been found in any graduate level physics text book at the time).
But antisemitism is the only form of bigotry that people dismiss immediately. I've been targeted by it for years, from swastikas being etched into my locker and car in HS, to being attacked by six people that wanted to finish the job Hitler started, to being attacked overseas for wearing my Star of David, to being told by the families of ex-girlfriends that they didn't want a "dirty" Jew dating their daughter, to being called a Christ Killer to my face outside of Baptist Church in Virginia when I wore my Yarmulke, to being asked questions like "it is true Jews do it through a sheet," to being told Hitler was a good man and Jews deserve to die because they do nothing but cause problems, to watching Jews here getting targeted because my Star of David is on the evil Israeli flag.
