it. Understanding the causes and effects of unconscious racism should be part of the curriculum starting in elementary school, if not earlier. We've had nervous people call the police in our town to report "suspicious looking" African-American men walking or driving through "their" neighborhood who were either doing their jobs or actual residents of the neighborhood.
