2. The pure idea populated by purists who all agreed on it didn't fare any better

"Galt's Gulch" in Chile was one of those grandiose schemes based on Rand's horrid novels that descended into infighting, charges of profiteering, and dueling lawsuits within 2 years of the initial announcement. I suppose someone should have mentioned to the true believers that Rand's flawless logic was all based on faulty premises.

I was almost hoping they'd pull it off down there in the hope that men like the Koch boys would retire to the Gulch and stop poisoning US politics. Alas, it fell apart in record time, even before some of the states they've poisoned with libertarian rubbish have rebelled and raised taxes because--hey--government is necessary. Who knew?
