        I'm using the same equipment that I've been using for about the last 3 years: Olympus Mark IV camera, Olympus lens 100-400mm, standard tripod, no filters. 
The moon was setting, and that may account for the golden glow. The atmosphere has more color as you descend towards the horizon, and that may have been affecting my photo.  Also, the percentage of the moon that was visible was more than the night before. All those things can add up!
