4. In the Pittsburgh easy-listening radio broadcast market, this song got a lot of airplay.

Even in the late 1960s and early 70s, the song was heard on AM radio Pittsburgh, particularly on KDKA AM 1020. I think that the version which was played was the original 1962 Cascades release. Gary Lewis released a cover in 1969, and it probably got a fair amount of play as well.

Another song which got a lot of airplay in Pittsburgh at that time is "Silence is Golden" by the Tremolos.
