I've also wondered about the absence of writers, visual artists, dance groups and playwrights these days but that could just be me. There are some excellent films and motion pictures I notice but not what I'd call a movement. Popular pieces like The Hunger Games, JK Rowlings Harry Potter series and Game of Thrones are doing well. I wasn't able to read the WSJ article link above since I'm not a subscriber.
