It’s less opaque than titanium white, and colors mixed with zinc white, while not lightened to the extent that titanium white lightens, retain brilliance of color and don’t have the chalkiness that can be a drawback of titanium white.

Many artists use zinc white only in mixes with other colors and use titanium white when they need good opaque coverage and a strong white.
