1. I loved that movie.

I watched it many times because it was a work of visual art. One of the first movies that recreated the places that Van Gogh painted. I believe the cinematic recreations were the first time art was used as a model to recreate actual physical places. There was no cinematic trickery involved. Just a great attention to details in his paintings. It was visually wonderful, and Kirk Douglas was Van Gogh with his ability to portray a tortured soul. And, of course Anthony Quinn was a great actor, perfect as Paul Gauguin.
