the basics are pretty simple/straightforward but mastering them can be a challenge. One of the frustrating aspects of fused class is it is not a "what you see is what you get" kind of art form. What you start out with and what comes out of the kiln can be two very different looking things. There are also a lot of variables that can wreck a piece in the kiln - causing holes, a scummy appearance on the glass, changes in colors, and some generally not very attractive effects. There is also a considerable cost investment. I have a kiln that can plug into a standard outlet but if I go any bigger I'll have to add a dedicated 220 line.
