And wouldn't you know it, he died clutching a tree.

He was also a very vocal supporter of increased funding for the arts, and for that reason, among others, he supported the previous, populist administrations of Néstor and Cristina Kirchner (a hard-right administration was narrowly elected last November, unfortunately).

It must have been a challenge, given his own upper class background. The wealthy generally hated the Kirchners because for the first time in memory they actually had to pay taxes (God forbid!); even so, they did very well at the time.
