4. I watched this because I took my 14-yr old dog to the vet today for the same problem.

After a regular walk on Monday, she woke Tuesday in the middle of the very early morning crying. Don’t know whether it was pain or her inability to get off the bed. I got up, put her on the floor to see that her hind quarters weren’t working at all. Long story short, got her in to the vet’s today and they suspect some kind of vertebral impingement like a bulging disc, requiring total rest for 6 weeks. I crafted a sling from a grocery bag and took her outside to potty. For the first time since Tuesday, I think she voided with intention. The vet gave us pain meds and anti-inflammatories, and stressed complete rest for the next 6 weeks. I hope I can do this. In the meantime , if anyone needs a formula for cleaning dog mess off carpet, I’ve got one that works pretty much like magic.
