The first couple times it wouldn't start but after another turn of the key it does nothing. I quit messing with it as I don't have a battery charger on hand and it is obviously not going to respond.

It's been sitting since September. Chances are that I need to charge the battery, which is not more than two years old. That means getting my pal up here with a charger as the way it's parked, no other vehicle can get close enough for cables to reach.

Nothing about this is simple.

I'll be looking for these other little things to check out regarding other sources of keys and weird magic switches in hidden places mentioned in responses from last night too. I'm just so burned out on this problem, if there was a cliff nearby and I could push 4200lbs, I'd have rolled it over the edge by now.
