So I did a search for 2004 bmw key problems , and that came up about reinitializing the fob . (On the 325i)
But since you said dash lights come on that says more about the issue .
You also said battery in key fob could not be replaced , that’s an issue with 04 325i also .

I’ll look about a bit more on your yr/model
