29. David Bowie

I had always liked him, but was not a superfan or anything like that. I was shocked by my reaction to his passing. Full-on mourning, random crying jags, and all the traditional stages of grief. It was weird and it lasted for months.

A few years ago I realized a lot of the grief was actually for my Grandma and Grandpa, who had passed away within months of each other, about a year before Bowie died. I was in a bad place, psychologically, at the time and had been in denial about them being gone.

I still can’t watch the Blackstar and Lazarus videos with crying.
