His pal was part Corgi, part border collie. Yeah, a smart and stubborn sawed off border collie free thinker.

They got on fine, and my Golden didn't mine sharing toys and chewy things. But...

We lived in a very arid place with very bad water, so we harvested water for the garden. Had a big tub at the end of a rain downspout in the back yard. Golden Boy figured it was his really big water bowl but he was fine with me running the immersible pump to send the water to larger barrels during rain storms.

Corgi Collie and Golden Boy would race around the back yard until they nearly dropped. Golden would need to take on some water. One day, Corgi Collie, hot from their romp, decided drinking the water wasn't enough. He was hot and jumped into the big tub to cool his tootsie paws.

That was a bridge too far for the Golden. He knew he had to always be good to the little house guest, but... MOM! He has his feet in my water bowl! Wrinkled brow and sad, pleading eyes... 'He's in my WATER BOWL!'

After a couple laps walking around in the big tub, Corgi Collie jumped out, shook his luxurious border collie fur and all was forgiven as the chase around the yard resumed.

I truly hope those two pals found each other again on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge when each of their times came. Two of the smartest dogs that every ran and played.
