When that judge told y'all that your service was important and appreciated, I would have laughed and responded that the ridiculous pay profoundly DISRESPECTED what we were doing. What could possibly be more insulting and disrespectful than paying y'all next to nothing when that judge was getting $180 grand a year, and some of those lawyers were getting hundreds of dollars an hour, and the court reporter and bailiff were getting solid middle-class salaries and benefits? How could anything be more disrespectful than that?
