I, grew up in the second northernmost neighborhood in Manhattan. I also have spent a lot of time in it northernmost neighborhood via relatives for decades.

I've also spent time job wise, and fun wise near, and at the southern most tip of Manhattan (and it's western edge, and eastern edge by the two rivers The Hudson, and East/Harlem Rivers).

So I have long experienced living in, and hanging out in parts of a city on an island. Chicago is the reverse. A city barely surrounding a bit of a huge lake. That fascinates me, too.
I do hope I can visit.
