and yet they are being given access to my private information.

Why is no one stopping this?

On the Social Security website it states that our privacy is protected. It explains that there are only certain individuals under certain circumstances who are given access.

The Privacy Act of 1974 is cited. And there are privacy provisions ensured as part of the original Social Security Act in 1935.
