their tools ever. I hope that in a way, and I know that this is against the creed of some to advertise their works, but I hope that some plaques are placed onto these properties that Pres. Carter himself worked on. Something needs to remind a lot of people of Jimmy's works (besides when he was president), with Jimmy and his fellow parishioners' works for their fellow man. Wouldn't hurt to remind others of this giving spirit, in giving unto others.
And these supposedly religious sects (right wing extremists) have, IMHO, lost their way on helping others and instead, glorify themselves in the accumulations of yet more money, build bigger and bigger churches (monuments) to themselves, and not helping their fellow persons, but instead mock them, knock them down for not being rich, etc., and thump on their chests proclaiming their accomplishments. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
Don't get me wrong, there are some out there that do things for their congregations and those suffering outside their churches. There are tons of people that do things, donate to their communities and not want any attention or credit. Their motto, it's not about them. It's about those that they are helping. It always has been that way, and I applaud them. God, in many ways, says this too.
Just one of the many verses that are out there, preaching this philosophy below. I could have picked easily 10 other verses but here's just one.
Luke 6:30, 35-36 tells us to give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful
