42. You know what else really changed news media is when they went to 24/7 news

programming. You used to get one hour of national/international news followed (usually) by 30 minutes of local news. This broadcast would repeat once or twice during the day.
When this type of 24/7 news programming started the manufacturing of news to fill the available time was relentless. Most days there is simply not enough 'new' news to fill 24 hours of broadcast time so they have to make it up, or distort every molehill into a mountain, keeping the political horse race going no matter what, endless breaking news, etc. Then add the subtext running below the talking head and the other bits of information being flashed at your face. Truly distopic.
