In reply to the discussion: Russia says it does not want a temporary ceasefire in Ukraine [View all]Emrys
(8,617 posts)33. So now it's time for Trump to enact the plan Kellogg laid out in numerous interviews before he took office
The idea was carrot and stick to force the two parties to negotiate.
We've had the stick for Ukraine, the (temporary) withdrawal of intelligence and suspension of arms deliveries - OK, they hardly needed dragging to the conference table anyway, but they saw the charade through - now it's time for the stick for Russia.
In the absence of any further meaningful sanctions that are likely to have any effect on them - and they've already been defiant and disrespected Trump by pooh-poohing their impact - that can only mean escalating arms supplies to Ukraine.
Go to it, Donny-boy. That Nobel Prize can be yours yet.
